This range of refreshing, fruity and smooth-drinking wines takes its name from the price of fifty-six hundred guilders that Philippus Wolvaart paid in 1791 for the farm he was to name Nederburg. A visionary who recognised the winegrowing potential of the land, he had the tenacity to tame the property and establish a farm that continues to flourish today.

56Hundred Shiraz

Shiraz is the second most planted red-wine variety in South Africa. This wine is soft and juicy with vanilla and spicy pepper notes that match well with flavoursome savoury dishes.

Colour: Deep red.
Bouquet: An abundance of plums and red and black fruit with sweet vanilla and oak spice aromas.
Palate: Flavours of red fruit and vanilla with spicy pepper notes. Soft, rounded tannins. Excellent drinkability.
