SAGE AND CHEESE TART

Ingredients
1 Large onion, sliced
1 tablespoon (15ml) Oil
12-14 Thin slices white bread, crusts removed and quartered
6 Rashers bacon, crisply fried and crumbed
1 Cup (250 ml) Cheddar cheese grated
2 Cups (500ml) Milk
1 tablespoon (15 ml) Robertsons Sage
7 eggs, beaten
Robertsons Atlantic sea salt Robertsons coarsely ground black pepper to taste
1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) NutmegInstructions
- Grease and ovenproof dish with margarine. Fry the onion in heated oil until soft.
- Arrange a layer of bread in the dish. Sprinkle a little of the onion and bacon on top followed by cheese. Repeat the layers until all ingredients have been used.
- Mix the milk, eggs, sage nutmeg and seasonings.
- Pour over the bread mixture.
- Bake for about 35 minutes at 180c or until the egg mixture has set and the topping is lightly browned.
